Job Title: Support Worker (Disability Services) Killarney

Job location: Killarney

Job Specification and Description:

Report to: The Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2)

Professionally Accountable to: The Clinical Nurse Manager 2

The Support Worker will:
• Promote the interests of customers at all times advocating for health and social care needs. Comply with all professional, regulatory, organizational policies to support best practice care standards.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of an Honors Degree (L8 QQI) or equivalent in Social Care or Social Care Practice.

Experience:
• 6 Months relevant sector experience.

Key Work Functions
(Please note this is not an exhaustive list)

The Support Worker will:
• Provide a high standard of customer care based on evidence-based practice with
reference to Bluebird Care policies and procedures.
• Act as an advocate for the customer at all times.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customer and family members.
• Conduct a comprehensive social care needs assessment and care plan.
• Work with care staff team members to ensure a high standard of multi professional care.
• Support the customer in achieving his/her physical/psychological/social care needs.
• Provide mentorship and training to staff as required.
• Provide constructive feedback to care assistants on work performance as necessary.
Provide a high standard of written and verbal communication.
• Escalate any issue which may impact on the health, safety and welfare of customers.
• Support the successful implementation of quality control systems i.e. Audit.
• Champion the needs of the customer, demonstrating kindness, empathy and compassion.
• Maintain the dignity, confidentiality and welfare of the customer at all times.
• Conduct his/herself with the utmost honesty, integrity and trustworthiness.
• Uphold the values and ethos of the Bluebirdcare organization.
• Comply with all employee expectations as set out in the Bluebirdcare staff employee
handbook.

Qualities and Characteristics:

The essential qualities of a Support Worker include having genuine compassion for others, and the ability to consistently demonstrate kindness, empathy and patience. Being a good communicator, with the ability to build a rapport with others is also key!
